When I got to the line "Spaghetti with CHEESE!" I fucking lost it. Laughed my ass off. Very, very, cool... thank you for that.

I got here from the Sullivan link, which is to say before you were cool.

Also I'm gay and thought seriously about the Peace Corps and may still do it, though I'd hope to be in one of those middle-class countries like Ecuador, or at least a poor country with more vegetables. But I'll be making decisions based in small part on what I read here. So don't worry, people are listening.

I also found my way to your blog after seeing your name in the Advocate. You're a great writer, which, I am sure is of absolutely no concern when you're horny, hot, and hungry. But at the very least know that you're words are cracking me up in Seattle.

I agree, the blog thing is bloody hilarious. I also read your article on the Advocate and deeply feel for your miserable life over there. I always wanted to do something like that but I guess that maybe I shouln't. Well I just hope that after all this time your return to your normal life won't be difficult. I wish you all the good food you can get and at least one good Harry Potter Book so you don't kill yourself.

Dany Morin, quelqu'un ayant compris tes insultes francophones. :)

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know that I haven't laughed this much in quite some time while reading your article in The Advocate and this blog. I guess it was particularily funny since it hit close to home, having lived a little of what you seem to be living (but my Ouga was Oaxhaca, Mexico - a little tamer). I can imagine it might become frustrating at times but imagine the great and unique experience you're living.
Keep on writing!

Pierre-David

We* were in Ouaga from 1976 to 1978. We lived in a large courtyard south of the road to Bolga. (I still have the maps, more details if anyone replies).
It was in the un-incorporated area then but was laid out for the future development of the city. Joy Greenich ? lived there also. She was already a famous ex-PVC at that that time.

I wish to send greeting to our landlord (and include money for his kid's or grandkids education).

*we - believe it or not. Rosa & I were there then and are still best friends, and now married and have 2 daughters who have been to 30 or 40 countries.

Reply here
JoshShade@pacbell.net

Josh Shade & Rosa Katz
445 Myrtle Street
Redwood City, CA 94062
650-368-8455

Rosa worked as at the Am.
Howdy-

I got directed over here from Sully's place (15 minutes of fame indeed).

As a white middle-class male who attended Oberlin, I LOVE your oppressor bit, and since we're the same race/gender/sexuality, we could even discuss it in a "safe space". Just don't appropriate anyones culture...

Liberal arts snark aside, this is a great blog. Thank you for sharing.

ps: and please keep us posted on the Senegalese group- their bravery shames me (in a good way...)

pss: and if there's anything specific us north american queers can do (besides supporting Amnesty Int'l, etc..), please let us know.
